The on-street sale of fundraising scratch cards is one of the main sources of funding for The Asthma Society of Ireland and helps us to continue to offer our services to people with asthma.
The Asthma Society of Ireland has a license, granted annually by Dublin District Court, which permits us to sell lottery scratch cards on the street in any location in Ireland throughout the year. The license and operation is covered by the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1956.
Our on-street lottery promotion is run professionally according to a code of practice, and it is a valuable and cost-effective source of funding allowing us to continue to provide services to our beneficiaries. Our ticket agents carry an I.D. card and a copy of the lottery license with them at all times.
This fundraising activity is different to an on-street collection and in accordance with the terms of this license our ticket agents sell scratch cards (€1 and €2 cards). They do not accept donations.
The charitable lottery ticket sellers are clearly distinguished from their easily recognisable uniforms; blue and white with The Asthma Society of Ireland Logo and clearly states that the sellers do not accept donations.
