Dealing with Hayfever and Asthma During the Hot Weather

With the weather remaining warm, asthma and hay fever sufferers remain at risk from triggers which can cause discomfort, worsened symptoms and/or asthma attacks. The dry, warm weather allows for the rise in pollen count so it is important to have your asthma managed.

30% of people in Ireland have hay fever while up to 80% of the 380,000 asthmatics also have hayfever. Both are triggered by allergic reactions with many common allergens. If hayfever is treated effectively, it can reduce asthma symptoms during the hot days.

It is impossible to completely avoid allergens and triggers but there are practical steps to keep your condition under control. The Asthma Society of Ireland wants to help asthma patients enjoy the sunshine by putting together our top tips to help you through the hot, humid days.
