Upcoming webinar – Children and asthma: Staying well through the winter

We are hosting a free online webinar on Tuesday, 9 September, from 7–8 PM to support parents, guardians, teachers and SNAs as children head back to school during the winter months.

Asthma is the most common chronic condition in children in Ireland, and winter can be a particularly challenging time due to colds, flu and environmental triggers. This practical and reassuring webinar will provide expert advice, resources and strategies to help children with asthma stay well, confident and supported both at home and in school.

Topics covered will include:

  • Asthma fundamentals: Managing symptoms, winter triggers, correct use of inhalers, vaccinations and emergency action plans.
  • Positive parenting: Supporting children emotionally, reducing anxiety, and building resilience around school and asthma.
  • Back-to-school tips: What to do if a child has an asthma attack at home or in school, and key points for parents and teachers to discuss to ensure effective management.

Expert speakers include:

  • Eilís Ní Chaithnía, CEO, Asthma Society of Ireland
  • Dr Muhammad Tariq, Consultant Paediatrician, Midlands Hospital, Portlaoise
  • Aoife Lee, Parenting Expert & Life Coach
  • Mary Hanratty, Respiratory Nurse Specialist, Asthma Society of Ireland
