This Asthma Awareness Week (4–10 May 2026), the Asthma Society of Ireland is shining a spotlight on childhood asthma – and the families who manage it every day.

For many families in Ireland, asthma is part of everyday life.

It can mean keeping inhalers close by, listening carefully for night-time coughing, missing school days, or worrying during sports and cold season. While asthma affects thousands of children across Ireland, the experiences of families living with the condition are not always heard.

We are looking for parents and guardians of children with asthma who would be willing to share their experiences to help raise awareness and improve understanding of childhood asthma.

Why share your story?

By sharing your family’s experience, you can help:

  • Raise awareness of the realities of childhood asthma in Ireland
  • Help other parents feel less alone
  • Highlight the challenges families face in managing asthma
  • Support calls for better asthma care and support

Stories may be shared during Asthma Awareness Week through:

  • The Asthma Society website
  • Social media
  • Media interviews (radio, TV, newspapers)
  • Campaign materials

You can choose how much you would like to be involved, and a member of our team will talk you through everything before anything is shared publicly.

Who can take part?

We would love to hear from:

  • Parents or guardians of children living with asthma
  • Families with children of any age
  • Families with different asthma experiences, including recent diagnosis, severe asthma, hospital visits, or everyday management

Every story helps people better understand childhood asthma.
