March 19, 2026

The Respiratory & Allergy Department at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise and the Asthma Society of Ireland are delighted to announce a two-day ‘Asthma Camp’ taking place on 4–5 July 2026 in Portlaoise.

Designed for children aged 6–10 years with a diagnosis of asthma, the camp aims to help young people better understand their condition through fun, interactive, and active learning. By combining education with play, the programme supports children in building confidence to manage their asthma effectively and achieve optimal asthma control for life.

Families are encouraged to attend together, with parents and carers taking part alongside their children. Siblings without asthma are also welcome to join in the activities across both days, making it an inclusive family experience.

The camp is completely free to attend. Refreshments, snacks, and lunch will be provided on both days. Please note that any additional costs, such as accommodation if required, must be covered by families.

Eligibility

To attend, children must:

  • Be aged 6–10 years

  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of asthma from a GP or paediatrician

  • Be prescribed a controller inhaler for asthma, with possible nasal allergies

Registration

Families interested in attending should contact the Paediatric Respiratory & Allergy team at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise:
