The Asthma Society of Ireland is seeking two experienced professionals to join its Fundraising & Communications Committee. These voluntary roles offer an opportunity to contribute strategic guidance, sectoral insight, and external networks to help strengthen fundraising performance and enhance the Society’s public impact. Committee members do not assume trustee responsibilities unless separately appointed to the Board.

We are particularly seeking expertise in the following areas:

1. Corporate sponsorships & partnerships

We welcome applications from individuals with significant experience securing and managing high-value corporate partnerships – particularly within health, pharmaceutical, consumer, leisure, professional services, or related sectors. Experience may have been developed from either the charity side of partnerships or the corporate side (CSR, ESG, marketing, commercial, or sponsorship roles).

This is a strategic, governance-level role. It requires high-level insight, analysis, and long-term direction. We are seeking individuals who understand where fundraising and partnerships sit within a charity’s broader financial model, and how they contribute to organisational sustainability and growth.

2. Senior-level charity fundraising (health sector preferred)

We are also seeking a senior fundraising leader with extensive experience developing and delivering successful fundraising strategies for charities. Expertise across individual giving, corporate giving, events, philanthropy, or digital fundraising is welcome, with a preference for candidates with health sector experience.

This is a strategic role focused on governance, business development, and long-term organisational growth. We are seeking a highly seasoned fundraising professional who can provide experienced oversight, constructive challenge, and strategic direction grounded in a clear understanding of how fundraising supports the sustainability and development of a national charity.

Cross-cutting requirements

Candidates should also bring a strong understanding of how corporate partnerships and fundraising interact with PR, media, and wider communications channels. At Committee level, this means providing high-level oversight and strategic direction on how these channels support partnership value and long-term brand positioning

Committee responsibilities

Committee members provide strategic advice and oversight across:

  • Development of the Fundraising & Communications Strategy
  • Review of plans, budgets, quarterly performance and ROI
  • Identification and cultivation of new prospects or donors
  • Support for key donor meetings and media/public engagement
  • Guidance on stakeholder engagement and external communications
  • Annual review of strategy, performance, and Committee effectiveness

Time commitment

  • Four scheduled Committee meetings per year (1.5–2 hours each).
  • Occasional advisory input or involvement in donor/partner meetings.

Please note that this is a voluntary, non-remunerated role with a term of up to three years (renewable).
